I love this community. www.freecycle.org It is proof that one person's trash is another person's treasure. I have been able to give away things I no longer needed to people in great need including clothing my children had outgrown, some old furniture, toys, books, and even an old couch! If you are decluttering, or if you NEED something, I strongly suggest this group. I have seen everything from food to furniture given away. The rules are fairly simple:
1) The item must be given freely.
2) The one receiving the item must pick it up.
3) Nothing illegal can be given away. Also no porn or things like that.
Really, its that simple. It is a blessing for people. I was able to get new clothes to replace the ones my children had outgrown through this group. What ever we can do to cut the costs, and help one another, is a good thing, right?
I have been a Moderator in Freecycle for the last 4 years, This is a great service for people who need or want to give things away, I have given away some very nice things to help someone and also have gotten things I have needed.
Freecycle is thru the USA, Just go to google, www.freecycle.org and put in your zip code and you will find the one closest to where you live. The only thing we do now allow is Offer or Wanteds on Animals, anything that breathes! (including teenagers :)
Hello. I have also found out about a wonderful site that is available in most states called www.freecycle.org. The basic premise is people give away things that have either outlived it's usefulness to them, but may be useful to another. Instead of trashing it to make more landfills, it basically has another life with someone else.
This might really sound bad, or maby I just realized my "DUH" moment =)
